New Westminster Homelearners' Program
The New Westminster Homelearners' Program (NWHLP) is a community-based, fully funded Kindergarten to Grade 9 program for families who choose to take an active role in the education of their children.
Our program focuses on a three way partnership between teachers, parents and children, while respecting individual learning styles and family goals. The key to the success of students in our teacher-led program is the active daily involvement of parents in their child's learning. Each of our professionally certified teachers works with an entire family usually over a number of years.
Typically, NWHLP students will attend one of our two learning centres part-time, to meet others and learn in group settings. Our teachers will design your child's educational program with you and lead classes covering a variety of topics. We aim to foster a community of learners, allowing for networking between parents, teachers and community programs.
Our Resource Library gives families access to user-friendly resources such as: thematic kits, books, audiovisual materials, manipulatives, CDs, educational board games, work books, text books and unit plans.
