"Congratulations" to French Second Language students from NWSS ( Jaycee Clarkson, Andrei Muresan,Van Stonehouse, and Alice Wang) and École Glenbrook Middle School (Madeleine Clarkson, Maria Constanineuscu, Sadie Decoste, Marc Massicotte, Melissa Rutherford and Dini Shi ) in the recent French Public Speaking District Finals – the Concours d’art oratoire!

Concours d’art oratoire is an annual event and an important part of the curriculum for Gr. 6 to Gr. 12 French Immersion and Francophone students in SD40. All students compete at the classroom level - classroom winners compete in the districts and, if place first, move on to the provincial level.

Canadian Parents for French – BC/Yukon has been hosting the provincial event for 27 years. This year it will be held on May 8, 2010 at the SFU Surrey Campus. The aims of the contest are to stimulate the interest of students learning French, to improve their oral skills, and to give them experience speaking in public. Winners receive a variety of prizes such as university scholarships for Gr. 12, trips to Ottawa, books, medals, merchandise, cash and more!

Bonne chance to all the students on May 8!
