Queensborough Middle School is Going "Greener"

In the past few months at Queensborough Middle School an enthusiastic group of students have established an Environmental Club with the assistance of staff members Mrs. Jennifer Skye and Mrs. Patty Farris.  The first project that the group took on was establishing a composting program at the school.  With the assistance of a community volunteer, the students learned about composting and how to establish a successful system.  An anonymous donor contributed a large composter which club members "planted" in the school garden.  Now each classroom has its own compost bucket (with a lid) and club members regularly pick up compostable materials, deposit them in the composter and clean the buckets.  Environment club members have been researching other environmental issues and have many more ideas of how QMS students and staff can become "greener".
