2010 Environmental Poster Contest Winners Announced!

New Westminster Mayor and City Council awarded three local students prizes for their submissions to the 2010 Environmental Poster Contest.  The theme for this year's poster contest was: "Sustainable Transportation: Now and in the Future".  The City, in collaboration with School District No. 40 and GreenLearning Canada, supported the contest which allowed grades 5 and 6 students to express their environmentally-related learning experiences.  In total 132 entries were received from schools throughout the district.

CONGRATUATIONS TO:  Joshua David of Lord Kelvin Elementary School won first place, Taylor Johansen of F.W. Howay won second place, and Nana Lalic of Connaught Heights Elementary School won third place in the competition.  All winning artwork will be included into the City's upcoming Master Transportation Plan.

"Once again, our local students have outdone themselves", said Mayor Wayne Wright".  "Both the quality of posters and the number of submissions were impressive and it's very clear that lots of effort and creativity went into each and every one".
