Canadian Parents for French - Keeping Busy

The New Westminster Chapter of Canadian Parents for French has been busy.  The group has already hosted kindergarten Bonjour, Bonne Nuit events at all three French Immersion elementary schools - Ecole Herbert Spencer, John Robson and Lord Tweedsmuir.  The French storytime takes place in the evening at the schools where the students wear their PJ's and enjoy a night of reading en francais by older student in the French Immersion program.  Each kindergarten family received a take-home French book provided by Canadian Parents for French.

"It was a wonderful event.  The enthusiasm and excitement was palpable in the air", Tweedsmuir principal Patty Farris said in a press release.  "I look forward to other exciting events with Canadian Parents for French".

More exciting events are being planned for the upcoming school year.  The next one is the Parent Survival Night at the Glenbrook Library on November 25th at 7:00 pm.  It will be a chance for French Immersion and core French parents, who do not speak French, to learn more about how they can help their child succeed.  For more information and to RSVP, contact Trish Kinsey.  Following that, local Canadian Parents for French has planned French play performances by Theatre la Seizieme for all French Immersion students, French Film Night and the annual Marche francais/French Resource sale in the spring.

Of course we wouldn't be able to do these events without the support of our members.  80% of Canadian Parents for French membership fees comes right back to our local chapter, said Heidi Clarkson, chair of the local chapter of the Canadian Parents for French
