Spring Break Survey

The Board of Education of School District No. 40 (New Westminster) is considering offering a two-week Spring Break for student and staff in New Westminster beginning in the 2011-2012 School Year and beyond.  A two-week Spring Break would result in some financial benefits derived from reduced facility and operational costs.  However, a two-week Spring Break is not being considered for budgetary reasons.  Increased levels of student and staff morale, and reduced levels of illness have been noted by other school districts offering a two-week break.

The School District is interested in receiving input from students, parents, staff and community members regarding the potential for a two-week Spring Break and invites you to complete the attached Spring Break Survey to provide feedback as part of this important process.  The survey will be available to all stakeholder groups in both online and hard-copy formats from Monday, March 28th until Friday, April 15th.  The goal of the survey is to provide important stakeholder information to assist the Board of Education in its decision-making process regarding a two-week Spring Break beginning in the 2011-2012 School Year.  It is anticipated that the Board of Education will make its decision in late April or early May 2011.  Thank you in advance for assisting the Board of Education in making this important education decision.
