Hume Park Consolidation Review Report

UPDATE:  At the Open Board Meeting held June 7, 2011 the Superintendent provided a PowerPoint presentation (linked here) and a recommendation related to Hume Park Elementary School that was amended and passed by the Board as follows:

THAT the Board of Education for School District No. 40 (New Westminster) provide the Hume Park School Community the opportunity to develop a plan, with support from district staff, to increase student enrolment at Hume Park Community School that is educationally and fiscally sound, including performance measures that can be used to evaluate the plan; AND THAT the report be presented to the Board by March 31, 2012.

At the Open Board Meeting held April 12, 2011, the Board of Education approved a motion to formally consider a possible consolidation of Hume Park Elementary School and Richard McBride Elementary School.  In response to this motion the Superintendent has prepared a Hume Park Consolidation Review Report focusing on the potential consolidation of Hume Park Elementary School with other schools, district programs, or services within the New Westminster School District.

As per the attached letter from the Superintendent of Schools, two consultation meetings have been held in order to receive input from the community prior to the Board making its final decision.  The minutes of those meetings and the Superintendent's Powerpoint presentation are linked below.
