New Westminster Schools

The Board of Education for School District No. 40 (New Westminster) is committed to ensuring that learners become self-assured, self-sufficient, caring, wise, flexible and able to live successfully in an ever-changing environment. New Westminster is a small city within the Greater Vancouver Regional District, situated between the British Columbia coast and the Fraser Valley. There is a broad mix of ethnic and socio-economic groups in the city, leading to a unique diversity and vibrancy within schools. District schools are, in general, fully subscribed and it is expected that there will be a modest increase in student population over the next few years.

The New Westminster School District delivers a wide range of programs and services offering Kindergarten to Grade 12 instruction through classroom, home and virtual education programs. School District No. 40 has 1 secondary school, 9 elementary and 2 middle schools. Three capital projects are currently in process: an elementary school renewal, construction of a new middle school and the high school replacement, which, when completed, will significantly update school facilities in the district.
