New Westminster Schools
The Board of Education for School District No. 40 (New Westminster) is committed to ensuring that learners become self-assured, self-sufficient, caring, wise, flexible and able to live successfully in an ever-changing environment. New Westminster is a small city within the Greater Vancouver Regional District, situated between the British Columbia coast and the Fraser Valley. There is a broad mix of ethnic and socio-economic groups in the city, leading to a unique diversity and vibrancy within schools. District schools are, in general, fully subscribed and it is expected that there will be a modest increase in student population over the next few years.
The New Westminster School District delivers a wide range of programs and services offering Kindergarten to Grade 12 instruction through classroom, home and virtual education programs. School District No. 40 has one secondary school, eight elementary and two middle schools. Two capital projects are currently in process: construction of a new middle school and the high school replacement, which, when completed, will significantly update school facilities in the district.
