Community Development

The New Westminster School District is committed to Community Development to educate, enable and empower individuals and our community to move through processes that promote change for the benefit of our students and the greater community.

The Community Program Development Officer position was established several years ago to play a leadership role in the development of District programming and supports, and to work with multiple community partners to encourage collaborative program development for the benefit of our students and the community at large.

The position plays a key role within the Student Services department working directly with the Director of Instruction for Student Services and Community Literacy in the areas of Early Learning, Life Long Literacy, Community LINK programs (Food and Nutrition and Community Schools), Post Secondary Transitions and a variety of Social Responsibility oriented programming. The position also provides support to Aboriginal Education, Multicultural and Settlement Services and Special Education in the development of communication materials and community-based partnerships, and the acquisition of funding.
