Herbert Spencer Library & Online Resources
We would like to introduce you to our library staff this year! Mrs. Thomas and Ms. Hanson, our librarians, are joined by Mrs. Michaud to ensure our library is open and available to students five days a week. They keep our books organized and up to date, share stories, resources and activities with classes and ensure the library is an exciting place for students to be.
The Herbert Spencer Library also greatly benefits from Grade 5 Library Monitors, student volunteers, who help in the library at recess and lunch. Please have your child speak to Mrs. Thomas if he/she is interested.
Our Computer Room is open during the school day for teachers and their classes. Food and drink are not permitted in the computer room. All students are required to complete an "Internet User Agreement" form before accessing the Internet.
Loan Period/Borrowing
Book exchange will take place during library classes this year. Most students will have book exchange once a week. Books are on loan for 1 week at a time. Notices will be sent home once a book is overdue. If a book is lost, a bill will be sent home so that we may replace the book in the library. If the book is later found, we will refund your money. Please return a book that has been damaged directly to the library staff so that we may try to repair it before further damage occurs.
The library will also be open until 3:15 most days after school for book exchange. This year Kindergarten to Grade 2 are allowed to take out 2 books and Grade 3 to 5 are allowed to take out 3 books.
