Herbert Spencer School Information

Herbert Spencer Elementary School's Mission Statement states the staff at Herbert Spencer School will provide a positive educational experience for students.  We expect that students will acquire the attitudes, skills and knowledge they require to become successful and contributing citizens.

The staff at Herbert Spencer has identified a BELIEF SYSTEM which will be used to support the establishment of goals and decision making within the school.  We Believe...

1.  ...that our school should provide a positive environment for all members of the school community.  Mutual respect and recognition of the worth of individuals, balanced with a sense of responsibility to the school and its goals are essential aspects of a healthy school environment.
2.  ...that the care, safety, physical and emotional well being of our students is paramount.
3.  ...that a child's education encompasses his/her social, emotional, physical, aesthetic, and intellectual development.  The responsibility for achieving these goals is shared amongst school staff, students and parents.
4.  ...that all children can learn.  Success is derived through appropriate programming involving high expectations, achievement and commitment on the part of students and staff.
5.  ...that high levels of student learning and achievement are developed through excellence in teaching, leadership and administration.
6.  ...that people should be encouraged and supported in taking reasonable risks.  Decisions made in the school ought to be based upon our beliefs and the best knowledge available.
7.  ...that our school should provide a high standard of facilities, equipment and instructional materials for its students.
